Volto needs an architectural update of some of its key components. During the talk, we will cover which are these requirements and challenges ahead.
Plone is continuously facing the struggle of keeping with the latest modern frontend developments, new trends and the ever-evolving Javascript landscape and its ecosystem.
Volto is already 7 years old and some of the architectural components are out of date or obsolete. From the build of the bundle, to the routing system and data fetching need, they need to be replaced or updated.
During the talk, we will cover which are these requirements, which ones are already in the makings and which is the roadmap planned to achieve this goal.
The talk will cover how the Volto architecture works and the tools/libraries that we will introduce to update it with modern and up to date tools, replacing the obsolete ones.
We will also explain the nature of the challenges that will introduce and the migration needed for existing projects and add-ons.
